Muhurta means a period of 48 minutes, a unit of Vedic Time. Muhurta refers to the technique of selecting an auspicious time for important life activities that help us perform our karma in a timely and positive manner. The Concept of Muhurta is that activities begun on auspicious astrological days will lead to happy and successful outcomes. In contrast, those begun on difficult days can lead to stress, emotional turmoil and challenging outcomes. Most people use a random day without consideration of the astrological qualities of the day, and this is not the right way for Vedic Astrologers.

Knowledge of Muhurta is essential for all students of Vedic Astrology. However, many neglect it because the techniques are complex and there is a lack of awareness of how useful creating muhurta can be for you and your clients. The Course is an in-depth study of Muhurta, drawing on the many classical texts. I am incorporating my personal experience, as I have successfully used Muhurta for most of my life.

Muhurta was originally done by sages for the Shodasha Samskara – the sixteen sacred rites of passage for an incarnating soul from birth to death that, when performed correctly, help purify the mind, body and soul. These are specific rituals and responsibilities. The original purpose of muhurta was to perform these samskaras at the right time, and muhurta was selected accordingly.

Karma and Muhurta - Electing auspicious times helps us fulfil our karma and responsibilities in the best possible way, without undue stress or emotional turmoil. Muhurta does not erase the karmic footprint of the natal chart, but allows us to find the right time to undertake our important project and ease our way through life's complexities.
